
Mica Millar is an acclaimed British soul singer, songwriter, and producer hailing from Manchester, UK. Known for her innovative approach to music production and her commanding yet soulful voice, Millar carved her niche in the music industry with the release of her debut album "Heaven Knows" on June 10, 2022. Her work is a compelling blend of vintage soundscapes that draw from soul, blues, gospel, and jazz influences.

Growing up in a musical family deeply entrenched in the industry, Mica Millar's passion for music was nurtured from a young age. Her father, a seasoned session drummer, and her mother, a former promotions executive at EMI, influenced her musical upbringing. Millar cites a variety of iconic artists as her inspirations, including:

The album was recorded across multiple locations including Manchester, Devon, and various US cities like New York, Minneapolis, and Nashville, before being mastered at the renowned Abbey Road Studios in London by Geoff Pesche.

The album explores profound themes of human nature, spirituality, love, oppression, inequality, and empowerment. Millar collaborated with esteemed musicians and producers throughout the project, working with talents such as guitarist Miles James and members of Emile Sande's live band.
In 2020, Mica Millar faced a significant personal challenge when a severe back injury nearly left her paralyzed. The incident required extensive surgery and rehabilitation, resulting in a delay in the completion of her album. Despite this setback, she emerged with a stronger resolve and continued to pursue her musical ambitions.

Her dedication and talent have not gone unnoticed. In 2022, she was honored with the Jazz FM Soul Act of the Year award. Further cementing her stature in the soul music scene, her debut album was named "Soul Album of The Month" by Echoes Magazine and was recognized as the "Brits Soul Album of The Year" in Jazz, Soul & Funk categories.

Mica Millar runs her own independent record label, Golden Hour Music Ltd, under which she released "Heaven Knows." Demonstrating her multifaceted talents, she has ventured beyond music, presenting a two-hour Black History Month programme on Reform Radio and creating a mini docu-series called "The Defender."
