Born in 1955 in Motala, Sweden, Broström’s music journey commenced at the tender age of eight with his exploration of the piano before delving into the tenor saxophone and flute during his teenage years.

In the early 1970s, Broström's pursuit of music led him to Malmö, where he studied at the local music college under the guidance of Helge Albin, a distinguished saxophonist and arranger.
