Fergus McCreadie’s initial foray into music started with the bagpipes, but it was a fateful jazz piano performance he witnessed at age 12 that set him on his current path. Despite practicing on a broken-down piano procured for just £20, McCreadie honed his skills on a Yamaha electric keyboard using headphones. His education journey took him through Dollar Academy and culminated at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he graduated in 2018. At the Conservatoire, McCreadie benefited from the mentorship of figures like Paul Harrison and Tommy Smith and actively participated in Smith's Youth Jazz Orchestra.

During his time at the conservatoire, McCreadie formed his influential trio with bassist David Bowden and drummer Stephen Henderson. This collaborative effort saw him win numerous awards, including the Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year's under-17 category consecutively in 2013 and 2014, a testament to his burgeoning talent. Followed by the prestigious Peter Whittingham Jazz Award in 2016, his career has been highlighted by increasingly significant milestones.
