Growing up in a musically inclined family, where his father was a trumpet player, Chase was immersed in a rich environment of creative musicianship from an early age.
In 1996, Chase relocated to Salt Lake City at the tender age of eight. It was there he began playing the saxophone at age ten, nurturing a passion that would define his career. His academic pursuits saw him attend California State University Long Beach, where he studied music and psychology on a KJZZ scholarship. Chase's dedication culminated in his graduation from The Juilliard School in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies.
