Born and raised in Camden, New Jersey, Arnetta Johnson's musical journey began at the age of 13 with trumpet lessons from Nasir Dickerson. She displayed early talent, joining the Little Jazz Giants, a group fostering young musicians under Hassan Sabree.
Johnson honed her craft at Camden Creative and Performing Arts High School, participating in diverse ensembles and earning accolades such as national medals from the NAACP ACT-SO competition and numerous best soloist awards. Her talents earned her multiple scholarships, leading her to Berklee College of Music, where she graduated in 2016.

Arnetta Johnson's music is a revolutionary blend of jazz and modern genres. Her 2019 album "If You Hear a Trumpet It's Me" introduced her concept of "disruptive jazz," a departure from traditional norms that emphasizes innovation and personal expression.



Johnson leads her band SUNNY (Sounds Uplifting Nobility through Notes and Youth), dedicated to inspiring and uplifting listeners through innovative music.

Arnetta Johnson's contributions have been acknowledged with numerous awards, including the Rising Star Award from Jill Scott's Blues Babe Foundation.

Guidance from Grammy award-winner Jill Scott and saxophonist Tia Fuller, alongside influences across musical genres, have shaped Johnson's innovative sound.
