Born on December 18, 1988, in Camaguey, Cuba, Kemuel Roig showed an early interest in music, aspiring to be a drummer by the age of four. His formal education began at the Vocational Art School "Nola Sahig" in Ciego de Avila, where he studied classical piano and drums. After moving to Miami with his family in 2002, he continued his musical education, studying classical piano under Martha Cortina and delving into jazz performance at Miami Dade College.
His academic journey saw him earn multiple awards from DownBeat Magazine for his outstanding compositions and piano solos. Roig later graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Florida International University and completed his Master's degree at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in 2015.
