As a Jazz, Neo Soul, R&B, and Gospel vocalist, songwriter, lyricist, poet, and musician, Cherise has carved a niche for herself with a distinctive style that began flourishing at a tender age.
Born into a musical family in Baltimore, Cherise was immersed in music from the start. Family gatherings naturally evolved into harmonious performances, setting the stage for her musical journey. At just five years old, Cherise made her professional debut singing "O Holy Night" in French. By twelve, she was already showcasing her leadership by directing choirs and playing piano during church services alongside her mother.
A pivotal moment in her early career occurred in 1987 when Cherise, together with her mother, performed "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" before an audience of over 10,000 at the inaugural ceremony for Baltimore's first elected Black mayor.
