Born and raised in Newham, London, Alfa Mist initially entertained dreams of becoming a professional footballer. He attended Langdon Academy and Newham Sixth Form College, where his musical journey began at the age of 15. Initially inspired by hip-hop, Alfa taught himself piano after being captivated by a performance of John Legend's "Ordinary People" by his music tutor. This interest gradually led him to the world of jazz.
